Why Homeowners in Wilmington, Oak Island & Myrtle Beach Choose Us

Strength

All our hurricane shutters comply with or exceed standards such as ASTM 1886E/1996E/e300 and TAS 201, 202, 203—ensuring durability and protection against flying debris, hurricane-force winds, and wind-driven rain. We also use a proprietary Design Pressure Analysis to calculate the exact wind load resistance your specific openings require.

Quality

Our powder-coated aluminum and polycarbonate products are installed using fasteners made of #304 stainless steel. These long screws, ranging from 3.25″ to over 7″, penetrate deeply into the house framing to ensure that they meet and exceed Florida hurricane codes.

Warranty

The products we offer and install come with an industry-leading 7-year warranty, which will be provided upon quotation for your review. We will also service any shutter we install, a service we do not offer to the public.  Combined with our nearly 20 years of experience in business, this ensures years of reliable use and peace of mind with your investment.

Why Should You Get Hurricane Shutters?

01.

Natural Disasters

With climate change creating stronger and more frequent storms every day, True hurricane shutters will withstand impacts from storm-borne debris, protect your windows from air pressure, and reduce wind-driven rain.

02.

Security

Many of our hurricane shutters offer additional security features that can deter or prevent home invasions and other safety concerns. This includes locks, hidden fasteners, heavy curtain weights, and other similar items.

03.

Savings

While there is an upfront cost with hurricane shutters, a typical insurance deductible is 10% of the insured value, and by installing rated shutters, you will save that cost and also not have to wait months to get back into your home after a storm.

04.

Peace of Mind

Protecting your loved ones is our priority, and even small storms can cause massive damage. With hurricane shutters, you are fully protected from lesser storms when you stay, and will have a home to return to if evacuating.

Design Pressure: Why It Matters

Commercial Work

American Hurricane has worked with many commercial contractors, ranging from the smallest local home builders to large multimillion-dollar projects with international corporations.

We are one of the few hurricane shutter companies who has the correct certifications for safety with regards to OSHA (including OSHA 30), equipment certifications, site-specific safety plans, and other measures to ensure a smooth and quick installation.

As a licensed general contractor, we can also obtain permits when necessary, if the customer requires work to be done after the initial phases.
